The Cardinals found themselves down 2-1 after doubles. Jewell's lone doubles win came from junior
Isaac Hamilton and first-year player Marc Gärtner 8-3 at No. 2 doubles.
Truman then took a 4-1 lead with singles wins at No. 1 and No. 4 singles respectively. Hunter then earned a straight set 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 3 singles and Hamilton won in dominating fashion 6-0, 6-3 at No. 5 singles. Sophomore
AJ Naanep won 6-0, 6-3 at No. 6 singles to set the stage for the dramatics.
Clews and his opponent Smith had split sets and went to the limit in the third. The third set went to a tie break before Clews pulled it out 15-13 in the tiebreak after Smith had fought off 14 math points against him. Â
The Cardinals improve to 4-10 overall and 1-2 in GLVC play.Â
Jewell will travel to Marshall, Mo., on April 1 to take on Missouri Valley College in non-conference play. First serve is set for 4:30 p.m.
