The William Jewell College softball team earned a Great Lakes Valley Conference doubleheader sweep Saturday afternoon when the Cardinals defeated Maryville University, 4-2, in the first game, and, 7-3, in the second.
Jewell improves to 17-8 overall and 6-6 in the GLVC, while Maryville drops to 7-17, 4-6 in GLVC.
In the first game,
Shelby McGraw (6-2) earned the victory tossing seven innings giving up six hits and three runs.Â
Madi Giles led the Cardinals offense in game one going 3-4 with two runs scored and an RBI.Â
In the second game, the Cardinals'
Nona Pauline (7-5) was credited with the win after striking out seven and allowing three earned runs on seven hits in seven innings.
Jewell put the game away with a five run third inning keyed by a three-run homerun from
Faith Song.Â
Giles continued her hot streak going 3-4 with two more runs scored and an RBI while
Rachel Potvin was 2-4 with two runs scored.
The Cardinals will host University of Missouri-St. Louis on Sunday at Spratt Sports Complex at 12:00 p.m.
