Cardinal Softball Splits a Doubleheader with McKendree

The William Jewell College softball team split a Great Lakes Valley Conference doubleheader at McKendree University on Sunday afternoon.  The Cards edged the Bearcats 1-0 in 8 innings in game one but fell 6-2 in game two.

Game one turned into a pitchers dual between Jewell's Shelby McGraw and McKendree's Susan Goetze.  The Cardinals were able to score the games only run in the top of the eighth inning when Rachel Potvin singled home Megan Barnes

McGraw earned win number 14 on the season with her outstanding effort on the hill.

Faith Song's two run homerun in the top of the first put the Cards up 2-0 in game two.  That lead stood all the way until the bottom of the sixth when the Bearcats exploded for six runs.

McGraw (14-9) took the loss in game two in relief of Song.

The Cardinals finish the 2015 regular season with an overall record of 30-21 and 16-14 in GLVC play.  Jewell will be scoreboard watching games being played early this week which will determine if the Cardinals qualify for the 2015 GLVC post season tournament.
