Jewell softball split a Great Lakes Valley Conference doubleheader with Missouri Science & Technology Friday in Liberty, but it took a late rally in game two to ward off a sweep by the Miners.

Nona Pauline to take a 1-0 lead; ,Pauline, however, hit a line-drive home run to right-center field in the bottom of the inning, followed by
Megan Kappler's bases loaded infield single to score two more runs. ,
Pauline allowed a single to the Miners (3-19 overall, 2-14 in the GLVC) to start the seventh inning, but then cruised through the next three batters to earn the complete game win (8-7), allowing four hits and just one run.
The Cardinals (18-13, 6-10) host Drury in a noon start on Saturday in Liberty.
