The William Jewell College women's basketball team fell in a conference matchup against No. 19 Drury University by a score of 87-52 on Saturday afternoon in the Mabee Center.
 
Jewell jumped out of the gates to a quick start, leading 17-16 after one quarter of play. However, the Cardinals were outscored 28-13 in the second quarter, allowing Drury to take a 44-30 lead into the half. The Panthers extended their lead in the second half, and the Cardinals would be unable to mount a comeback.
 
Jewell was unable to slow the Drury offense, which shot 50% from the field on the afternoon. The Panthers also made 11 of their 24 three point attempts. 
 
Maddie Nelson had a strong afternoon for the Cardinals, scoring 10 points and dishing out eight assists. 
Blair Klostermann contributed nine points in the loss.
 
Addy Roller led the offensive attack for the Panthers, scoring 21 points on the afternoon. Annie Armstrong chipped in 14 points to aid the Panther victory.
 
With the loss, the Cardinals fall to 7-13 on the year and 2-7 in Great Lakes Valley Conference play. Drury improves to 14-3 overall and 7-2 in conference.
 
The Cardinals resume GLVC play on Thursday at 5:30 p.m., as they travel to St. Louis to take on the University of Missouri- St. Louis.
