Down just 1-0 midway through the second half, Quincy scored four quick goals to sink the William Jewell men's soccer team 5-1 on Sunday afternoon. The loss drops the Cardinals to 2-8 overall and 2-6 in Great Lakes Valley Conference play.
Despite being outshot 9-2 in the opening half, the Cardinals held Quincy scoreless until the final minute when Pete Condol scored to put QU up 1-0 at the break.
The second half was all Quincy as the Hawks scored goals in the 63rd, 65th, 67th, and 77th minute.
Blake Lines found the back of the net in the 84th minute off an assist from
Teddy Gifford to put Jewell on the board but the second half hole was too much to overcome as the Cardinals dropped their seventh consecutive game.
Lines led Jewell with three shots, including two on goal, while
Aaron Froehlich,
Ethan Delaney, and
Jordan Lindsey accounted for one shot a piece. The Cards were outshot 20-6 on the day.
Quinn Ruggeri took the loss, allowing four goals and recording six saves in 71 minutes. Senior
Luke Heaton had three saves in just 18 minutes of work in the net, while allowing one goal.
Up next the Cardinals will continue GLVC play as they head to Southern Indiana and Bellarmine next Friday and Sunday.
