The William Jewell College women's basketball team suffered its third straight loss Monday night as the Cardinals fell, 70-59, to University of Central Missouri at the UCM Multipurpose Building.
Jewell (4-5) was limited to shooting 38.8 percent from the field for the game, while Central Missouri (10-1) shot 48.1 percent and had four players score in double
figures. Â
Maddie Nelson recorded a game high of 22 points on 6-of-17 from the floor and was 9-of-10 from the free throw line. Nelson also had a game high five steals.
Annemarie Boeh was the only other Cardinal in double figures with 17 points.
After tying the game at 6-6, the Jennies went on a 10-0 run and never trailed in the game. The Cardinals cut the lead to 8 at halftime.
Central Missouri built a 19-point cushion at one point in the second half, and Jewell was not able to mount any kind of comeback.Â
Jewell returns to the court Monday, January 2 when they wrap up non-conference play against Graceland University at 5:30 p.m. at the Mabee Center.
