The William Jewell College women's basketball team continued Great Lakes Valley Conference play this afternoon hosting Truman State University at the Mabee Center.
Â
The Cardinals survived a late run by Truman State to hang on for a 68-63 win which improves the Cards to 4-2 overall and 2-0 in GLVC play. Truman falls to 4-5 overall and 0-2 in league play.Â

Â
The Cardinals started the fourth quarter strong and built a 58-43 lead with just over six minutes to play.

Â
Nelson then responded by nailing a 12 foot jumper to put the Cards back up 63-60. The Bulldogs then missed a three pointer and Nelson again came through with a huge three-point play that put the Cards up 66-60 with 26 seconds to play and Jewell would hang on for the five point win.
Â
Hayden Butler led all scores with 21 while
