William Jewell's Jacob Plant outlasted Truman State freshman and Liberty native Griffin Turnage in three sets to take the No. 5 singles match and give the host Cardinals a dramatic 5-4 win in a marathon Great Lakes Valley Conference match on Friday afternoon at Clayview Country Club.

With the dual match tied 4-4, Plant dropped the first set before evening things up one set a piece after winning the second set 7-6.  Plant jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the third before eventually closing it out to win 6-2.

Jewell had battled back from down 2-1 after doubles with their only doubles win coming from the tandem of Caul Pearson and Pedro Uno 8-6. They got a dominating
No. 4 singles win from Pearson 6-1, 6-2 and a hard fought 6-3, 3-6, 7-5 win from sophomore Marc Gartner at No. 1.

Sophomore Marco Martinez came through with a tight 7-5, 7-5 win at No. 6 singles which set the stage for Plant's dual winning match.

The Bulldogs dropped to 1-10 overall and 0-4 in GLVC play.  Jewell improved to 5-16 and 1-2.
