The William Jewell women's soccer team dropped Friday nights contest to Rockhurst University by the score of 5-3. The loss drops the Cardinals to 6-5-1 overall and 3-4 in Great Lakes Valley play. Rockhurst improves its record to 6-2 in the GLVC.

Behind Junior Allison Malott the Cardinal offense was able to fight back in the second half and keep within striking distance. Malott continues to string together strong performances and give opposing goalkeepers trouble. Friday's performance moves Malott's goal total to a team leading five on the season.
 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• 9:41 – An own goal from the Cardinals gave Rockhurst the early lead.
• 21:31 – McKenna Leetch finds the back of the net for Rockhurst to make the score 2-0.
• 42:19 – The Hawks extended its lead going into half with a goal from Mackenzie Moore to make it a 3-0 game.
• 51:39 – Lexy Hawkins connected with teammate Allison Malott who places a perfect header off the post to push the score to 3-1.
• 63:53 – Sophomore Kayla Crowder again pairs up with Malott who sends a shot to the back of the net to bring the Cardinals within one score, 3-2.
• 78: 21 – Gracie Schweinfurth knotted the game up at three all with a header past the Rockhurst keeper.
• 86:41 – The Hawks responded right back with another goal to retake the lead 4-3.
• 88:05 – In the final minutes Rockhurst sealed the victory with another goal and make the score final at 5-3.
