Crowder's Golden Goal Lifts Cardinals to First Win

The William Jewell women's soccer team earned their first win of the season on Thursday evening in a 3-2 double overtime win over Washburn University. The Cardinals move 1-1-1 on the season with the victory while Washburn falls to 2-1. 

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • 23:37 - Washburn got on top early as Josie Rimmer scored her first goal of the season 23 minutes in. (1-0, WU)
  • 49:23 - Alyson Galler tied the game with her first tally of the year on a shot from 20 yards out. (1-1)
  • 76:14 - The Ichabods retook the lead as Rimmer scored her second goal of the night on a pass from midfield. (2-1, WU)
  • 76:49 - Following a yellow card penalty Lexy Hawkins took a free kick and nailed a game tying goal to the top corner of the goal. (2-2)
  • 102:28 - Kayla Crowder took a shot that hit the top crossbar and fell into the goal for the game winner and her second goal of the season. (3-2, Jewell)

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • The Cardinals were out shot 17-15 and 10-9 in shots on goal but owned the overtime periods, recording four shots while allowing Washburn just one. 
  • Jewell posted five corner kicks to Washburn's four.
