The William Jewell softball team fell twice on Saturday, dropping a 5-2 contest to Emporia State and an 11-3 decision to Harding University. The losses drop the Cardinals to 2-2 on the young season.

- B1: Emporia State got on the board first with an RBI single from Brittanie Shepherd. (1-0, ESU)
- B2: The Hornets used three hits and a sacrifice fly to extend their lead to two. (2-0, ESU)
- B3: A walk followed by a double pushed the Emporia State advantage to three. (3-0, ESU)
- T4: The Cardinals took advantage of a single and two walks to get on the board after Taylor Alarcon reached base on a fielder's choice to score Sarah Lewis. (3-1, ESU)
- B5: Emporia State pushed the lead back to three with two hits in the fifth. (4-1, ESU)
- B6: The Hornets added a run in the sixth on an RBI single from Kelsey Phillips (5-1, ESU)
- T7: The Cardinals got a run back as Anna Biondo led off the frame with a single and came around to score on a hit off the bat of Courtney Beatty. (5-2, ESU)

HOW IT HAPPENED
- T3: The Cardinals took an early lead as Sarah Lewis roped a single to right field to score Beatty. An error by the Bison right fielder also allowed Emily Hoover to cross the plate. (2-0, Jewell)
- B3: Harding took the lead in the bottom of the frame with three runs on two hits, including a home run. (3-2, HU)
- T4: Jewell wasted no time tying the game as Farr, running for Madeline Culbertson who had singled, scored on a single from Madelynne Greenstreet. (3-3)
- B4: The Bison used a big fourth inning to retake the lead scoring, six runs on five hits. (9-3, HU)
- B5: Two Jewell miscues allowed two more Harding runners to cross the plate and ended the game early. (11-3, HU)
