Late Inning Rally Lifts Drury over Cardinals

The William Jewell softball team suffered a sweep at the hands of Drury University on Sunday afternoon by scores of 9-8 and 8-7. The Cardinals fall to 13-9 on the season and 4-4 in Great Lakes Valley Conference play. 
 
 
GAME ONE 
Jewell – 8

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • B1: The Cardinals jumped out to an early four-run lead on four straight hits, including doubles from Beatty, Hailey Wall and Ashlyn Sutton.  (4-0, Jewell)
  • T2: Drury immediately cut into the deficit on a double followed by a two-run home run from Madison Hecker. (4-3, Jewell)
  • B2: Jewell wasted little time responding as they plate four runs on four hits.  Lindsay Glynn scored on a wild pitch followed by Beatty's second double of the game to score Madelynne Greenstreet and Anna Biondo. Wall added a single to center to push the lead to five. (8-3, Jewell)
  • T4: The Panthers got one run back after an RBI single up the middle by Megan Holmes. (8-4, Jewell)
  • T5: Drury scored five runs on five hits, including a three run home run from Madison Seumalo to take the lead. (9-8, DU)

  • T2: Drury got on the board first in the nightcap, on a single to center from Megan Tersteeg. (1-0, DU)
  • B2: The Cardinals blasted three home runs in the bottom of the frame by Glynn, Beatty, and Sarah Lewis to pull ahead by five. (6-0, Jewell)
  • T5: The Panthers scored two runs on two hits in the fifth to cut the lead to four. (7-3, Jewell) 
  • T6: The Panthers took the lead in the sixth frame after putting up five runs on four hits. (8-7, DU)
