LEAVENWORTH, Kan. - In their final road competition before heading to the GLVC Championships next month, the William Jewell men's and women's swimming teams swept through Saint Mary on Saturday. The Cardinal men won 149-52 to move to 4-1 in regular season duals while the women defeated the Spires 133-59 to improve to 3-2. In total, Jewell won 20-of-26 events, including all four relays.
HOW IT HAPPENED
On the women's side three athletes won multiple events with freshman
Sidney MacGillivray winning the 1000 free (11:03.18) and 100 fly (1:03.33) while classmate
Audrey Duchscherer took home top honors in the 200 IM (2:18.49) and 500 free (5:24.78).
Emily Sawyer also won two events, the 50 and 100 free with times of 25.47 and 55.27, respectively.
Rachel Reaves won the 100 breaststroke with a mark of 1:11.18 which is good enough to put her at No. 8 on Jewell's all-time performers list.
For the men, eight different Cardinals won one event, led by
Noah Witzki's performance in the 100 fly at 50.93 which places him fifth on Jewell's top performers list in program history. The Jewell men won eight of nine individual events and posted the top four spots in the 200 free, 200 IM and 100 fly and the top five finishes in the 100 breast.
