Cardinals Travel to Truman, Quincy for GLVC Road Trip

LIBERTY, Mo. - The William Jewell men's soccer team hits the road with a stop at Truman before heading across the state line to Quincy University on Sunday.

CARDINAL NOTES
  • The Cardinals suffered two losses last weekend to Illinois Springfield and Lewis University.
  • Cole Bulgren scored the lone goal on the weekend with a free kick score on Sunday against Lewis. This is the second goal of his career, both coming this season. 
  • Eli Gratz continues to lead the conference with 80 saves and 6.67 per game. The sophomore is up to 140 for his career, just 15 shy of surpassing Joe Keeven (2012-15) for third in the NCAA era. His 80 saves this season is currently sixth in a single season in the NCAA era. 
     
ABOUT TRUMAN
  • Truman enters the week in search of their first win of the season, coming in at 0-13 on the year, 0-11 in GLVC play. 
  • The Bulldogs are led offensively by Sam Newton, Collin McDonough and Luke Payne who all have one goal. Newton also has one assist for a team-high three points. 
  • In goal for Truman, Justin Olwig has started 10-of-13 games for nearly 1,000 minutes with 41 saves. 
  • Duke Cochran is now in his 17th season and is the Bulldogs' all-time wins leader. 
 
ABOUT QUINCY 
  • Quincy is coming off a win at Truman on Friday, snapping a four-game winless streak. The Hawks are 5-6-2 on the season, 3-5-2 in conference action. 
  • Cole Hayes is ninth in the GLVC with 32 total shots while scoring five goals. Jack Rhead is tops on the team with six scores and 13 points. 
  • Nick Chapman is one of the top distributors in the conference with four assists. 
  • Michele Barletta and Christos Kalaitzis have split time in goal, each with at least 550 minutes. The duo has combined to post 45 saves with 25 goals allowed. 
  • Mike Carpenter is now in his 10th season with the Hawks and owns more than 100 wins.
