Women's Soccer Wraps Up 2021 Season at Rockhurst

LIBERTY, Mo. - The William Jewell women's soccer team concludes the 2021 season on Friday evening as they travel to crosstown rival Rockhurst.

CARDINAL NOTES
  • Jewell is coming off a 5-2 loss to Quincy University on Sunday. The Cardinals tied the match at one in the first half before the Hawks went on a surge with four goals to put the game away.
  • Alex Johnson scored her fifth goal of the season on Sunday, the most by a Cardinal since Kayla Crowder and Allison Malott each scored six in 2018 and ranks her eighth in the GLVC this year. 
  • Kate Lawrence scored her second goal of the season in the final moments of Sunday's match up to give the Cardinals three players with multiple goals on the year, for the first time since 2019. 
  • Clara Fronabarger enters the final week of the season with six total assists, tied for fifth best by a Cardinal in the NCAA era and second most by a Jewell freshman. This total is also second in the GLVC, one off the leader from Lewis, and 29th nationally as she had recorded two games with two assists. 
  • The Cardinal keepers are all three ranked in the top-15 in the GLVC this season in total saves. Freshman Emily Glassman is second with 66, seven behind SBU's Alli Harrington.  
     
ABOUT ROCKHURST
  • Rockhurst enters the week with an overall record of 5-9-2 and 4-6-2 and having won two of their last three, including a 1-0 win over No. 20 UIndy. 
  • The Hawks are led offensively by Olivia Schwarzen and Gabby Hennessy who have combined for five of Rockhurst's eight goals.  
  • Taylor James has started 11 games in goal for the Hawks having made 51 saves and is the reigning GLVC Defensive Player of the Week. 
  • The Hawks are 15th in GLVC with 1.44 points per game while making 5.62 saves per game, third in the conference.
  • Greg Herdlick has been at the helm of the Rockhurst program since 1999, winning more than 230 games, 23rd among active coaches in Division II.
