Late Goal Lifts Rockhurst Past Jewell

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The William Jewell men's soccer team dropped their season finale on Friday night at Rockhurst University to finish 2-13 overall. 

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The two teams played scoreless for the first 44 minutes but Rockhurst broke the tie just moments before the halftime buzzer to take the lead. 
  • Jewell tied things up in the 65th minute on a goal by Sage Smotherman from five yards out off a free kick from Cole Bulgren. 
  • The Hawks scored on a free kick of their own in the 86th minute to take the win. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Jewell finished with nine shots, led by three from Ethan Nichols, including two on goal. 
  • Eli Gratz posted five saves. 

Jewell graduates eight seniors and are set to return 12 players who appeared in at least 10 games this season.
