Women's Soccer Hits the Road for No. 21 UIndy and Southern Indiana

LIBERTY, Mo. - The William Jewell women's soccer team hits the road this week looking for their first win of the season as they take on Indianapolis and Southern Indiana.

CARDINAL NOTES
  • Despite still searching for their first win, the Cardinals have shown improvement in the middle of the season, scoring three goals in their last three games while holding Missouri-St. Louis to a single score on Sunday. 
  • Four players have scored on goal apiece as Kate Lawrence and Corrine Hughes each found the back of the net for the first last over the weekend. 
  • Clara Fronabarger leads the team with 17 shots, including three narrow misses last Sunday, to go with a GLVC-leading three assists. 
  • Emily Glassman has played in the last six games for Jewell, posting 42 saves which is third most in the GLVC while her 7.00 saves per game average is first in the conference and 24th nationally. 
ABOUT UINDY
  • Indianapolis enters Friday's game at 6-1 on the season and 4-1 in the conference, and winners of their last four. The Greyhounds did not play on Sunday, however, due to field conditions at Illinois Springfield. 
  • UIndy is tops in the GLVC with 5.14 points per game, led by Kiki Sauceda at 2.57. The senior leads the conference and 12th in Division II with eight goals on the season to go with two assists. 
  • Elena Espinosa is one of three players with multiple assists, leading the team with three to go with 11 shots. 
  • After missing the early part of the season, Sophia Saucerman is back in goal for the Greyhounds, posting a 4-0 record with two shutouts and 12 saves since September 17.
  • Holly Cox is now in her seventh season at UIndy with more than 55 wins. 
     
ABOUT SOUTHERN INDIANA 
  • Southern Indiana defeated Quincy last Sunday, 2-0 for their first win since September 5. The Screaming Eagles are 3-4-2 on the year and 1-4-1 in the GLVC. 
  • Jill DiTusa leads the team with three goals while Avery Schone has scored twice. 
  • Three different players have seen time in goal for USI with Zoe Lintner playing both games of last weekend. The freshman has eight saves and a .667 save percentage through three games. Maya Etienne leads the staff with 14 saves and two shutouts but has not appeared since September 24.
  • Eric Schoenstein is in his sixth season with the Eagles, totaling more than 50 wins and a NCAA-II Tournament appearance in 2019.
