Cardinals Finish in Draw at Southwest Baptist

BOLIVAR, Mo. - The William Jewell men's soccer team concluded the 2021 spring season on Friday night with a 1-1 draw at Southwest Baptist. 

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • In the 39th minute, the Bearcat keeper came away from the goal at which time the ball was knocked past him by Ethan Nichols and picked up by Carson Lee who scored his team-leading fourth goal of the season. 
  • The Bearcats tied things up in the 66th minute on a goal by Isaiah Waddy. 
  • Each team got off three shots in the overtime periods but could not score. 

FOR THE CARDINALS
  • Jewell totaled eight shots with six on target. Lee led the Cardinals with three shots, all on goal. 
  • Eli Gratz finished with seven saves. 

FOR THE BEARCATS
  • SBU totaled 18 shots, eight on target, led by four players with three apiece. 
  • Will vanHoornbeek had five saves. 

Jewell finishes the 2021 abbreviated season at 3-8-2 and will graduate 10 players. The Cardinals will return 11 players who appeared in at least 10 games this spring.
