Men's Soccer Travels East for GLVC Matchups

LIBERTY, Mo. - The William Jewell men's soccer team is back on the road this week as they travel to Lindenwood on Friday night before a stop at Maryville on Sunday.

CARDINAL NOTES
  • Jewell is coming off a tough weekend, falling late to Missouri S&T before a 6-0 defeat by Drury. 
  • Eli Gratz has moved into the top spot in the GLVC with 6.40 saves per game and 32 total. As a staff, the Cardinals are fourth in the GLVC with a .750 save percentage. 
  • Carson Lee and Ethan Nichols continue to lead the Cardinals with nine shots each, while Cole Bulgren and Walker Bond have seven a piece. 
  • After scoring in back-to-back games, the Cardinals were shutout on Sunday, getting off only two shots. 
     
ABOUT LINDENWOOD
  • Lindenwood enters Friday's matchup with an 0-4 record, 0-3 in conference play after falling 2-1, 2-0 to Quincy and Illinois Springfield last week, respectively 
  • Gabriel Herrera and Santiago Rodriguez have each scored once for the Lions while the former also has an assist for a team-high three points. 
  • Janik Kraft and Zachary Martin have split time in goal, with the former posting 13 saves while allowing four goals and the latter 6 saves with five goals. 
  • Carl Hutter is now in his 28th season at the helm of the Lion program, compiling a 446-250-64 record during that time. 
 
ABOUT MARYVILLE
  • Maryville enters the weekend with an overall mark of 4-1-1, 2-1 in GLVC action. The Saints are coming off a big win over Quincy, 3-2. 
  • Mirza Hasecic has already scored five goals through the first six games, putting him a top the GLVC charts and 15th in Division II. His 1.83 points per game and 3.33 shots per game are second and third in the league as well. 
  • As a team, the Saints have scored nine times, while allowing only six goals from opponents. Liam Walraven has started five of six games with 10 saves and has not been beaten in goal. 
  • David Korn, now in his sixth season, has led Maryville to three consecutive NCAA National Tournaments, capped by a 2019 trip to the Elite Eight.
