Women's Soccer Continues GLVC Play at Lindenwood and Maryville

LIBERTY, Mo. - The William Jewell women's soccer team continues conference play this week on the road at Lindenwood and Maryville.

CARDINAL NOTES
  • Jewell is coming off two losses last week to Missouri S&T and Drury.
  • The Cardinals are first in the GLVC and 11th in Division II with 8.33 saves per game but will be without senior keeper Kaylie Kappelmann for the remainder of the season. Katie Wagenheim and Emily Glassman will work in goal the rest of the way. 
  • The freshman, Glassman, got the start on Sunday and posted a career high 12 saves, tied for fifth most in the NCAA era. 
  • Clara Fronabarger is tied for ninth in the league with 12 shots, while Alex Johnson follows directly behind with 11. Johnson has upped her season total thanks to six shots in the last three games. 
  • It will be a homecoming of sorts this week as the fifth year senior Johnson returns to Maryville, where she spent her undergraduate career. 
ABOUT LINDENWOOD
  • Lindenwood enters the week at 2-3 overall, both wins coming last week against Lewis and Quincy. 
  • Three players, Bailey Bologna, Emily Burton and Amanda Orlando, have each scored one goal to lead the team. Maggie Weller's eight shots is tops for the Lions who are last in the GLVC with an average of seven attempts per game. 
  • Sam Blazek has started all five games for Lindenwood, and owns 22 saves, fourth best in the conference, while allowing 10 goals with one shutout. 
  • Dave Musso is now in his fourth season with the Lions and coming off the most successful season in his tenure with a 9-3-3 record last spring. 
     
ABOUT MARYVILLE 
  • Maryville sits at 1-4 on the season and is in search of their first GLVC win of the year after a tough 4-3, double overtime loss to Quincy on Sunday. 
  • Five players have scored for the Saints, including Amanda Kaltwasser and Madison Canoy that lead the team with seven and six shots, respectively. 
  • Katie Nash has been the primary keeper, starting four of five games, with 15 saves. 
  • The Saints are coached by former US Women's National Team member Lori Chalupny, now in her fourth season.
