Men's Soccer Look to Punch Ticket to GLVC Tournament in Regular Season Finale

LIBERTY, Mo. – The William Jewell men's soccer team will conclude the 2022 regular season this weekend with a trip to Truman State and a potential Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament bid on the line.

INSIDE THE SERIES
  • The Cardinals are 2-8 against Truman State in the NCAA era with the last win coming in April 2021. Jewell fell 2-1 last season, despite a late push and a goal from Mikhail McComie in the 88th minute.  
 
CARDINAL NOTES
  • Jewell has been the beneficiaries of a league-high seven penalty kicks, converting six. The half dozen connections are by far the most from the Cardinals in the NCAA era. Junior Cole Bulgren has accounted for three of the PKs to tie the career record in just one season while Walker Bond has two and Carson Lee one. 
  • Jose Arellano comes into the final week of the season ranked fifth among GLVC keepers with a save percentage of .753, on pace for the top-five in the NCAA era, as well as second with 58 total saves. 
  • The Cardinals are on target better than 52% of the time this season, which ranks second in the GLVC and 16thnationally. Jewell has placed 52-of-99 shots on goal this fall, led by three players, Lee, Bond, and Ethan Nichols with nine apiece. 
  • Jewell will be looking to win their fourth game of the season at Truman, which would be the highest total in four seasons and the most conference wins since 2013.
