Men's Soccer Hosts Lewis and UIndy in Final Homestand

LIBERTY, Mo. - The William Jewell men's soccer team is at home for the final time this weekend as they play host to Lewis University on Friday night followed by a matchup with Indianapolis on Sunday afternoon for Senior Day.

THE SERIES
  • Jewell is 4-6-1 against Lewis since joining the GLVC in 2011 but have dropped three straight. The Flyers took last season's meeting by a final of 4-1.
  • The Cardinals are looking for their first win over Indianapolis, going 0-10-1 overall. UIndy won 5-1 last season. 

CARDINAL NOTES
  • The Cardinals lead the GLVC in shot accuracy entering a key week of conference action. Jewell is on goal better than 52% of the time, which ranks 24th in Division II. 
  • Jewell has allowed just 11 goals total with five games remaining in the season. This comes a year after giving up 41 goals and more than 18 shots per game. The Cardinals got a boost Keaton Wiley returning for his fifth year along with the addition of junior college transfer Paul Choi along the back line. Jose Arellano has also played a significant role in the improved defense, posting 43 saves to lead the GLVC. 
  • The Cardinals have enjoyed a balanced offense this season with six different players scoring at least one goal with five having at least one assist. Carson Lee leads the way with three scores while Walker Bond is fifth in the GLVC with three assists. 
  • Jewell will recognize four seniors on Sunday as part of Senior Day activities, including Carson Lee, Mikhail McComie and Jayden Hicks, along with fifth year player Keaton Wiley
