The William Jewell women's soccer team will wrap up the non-conference portion of the schedule this weekend as they travel to Newman University on Thursday before taking on, now Division 1 opponent Lindenwood on Sunday.
Series History
Jewell has met Newman just once in the NCAA era, finishing in a 2-2 tie back in 2014. The Cardinals and Lindenwood were GLVC foes since 2019 and have met four times as NCAA programs, with Jewell going 2-1-1, with their first loss to the Lions coming last fall.

Early Offensive Firepower
Despite the 7-3 loss, the Cardinals enjoyed the offensive explosion they've been waiting on. Jewell scored three goals, one each from Lux Sands, Clara Fronabarger and Corrine Hughes, the most since October 20, 2019 against Lindenwood. Additionally, the 10 points and four assists were the most since a 2015 match at Rogers State. All three goal scorers also recorded an assist, and are among the top players in the GLVC in points, as did freshman Riley Frasure-Smith.

Baptism by Fire
The Cardinal rookies are making their mark early as freshmen Frasure-Smith and Sands teamed up for the season's first goal last Sunday against Washburn. Additionally, the top three players in minutes are all newcomers, including Frasure-Smith, Riley Richardson and Jules Bise, while Sands is fifth on the team. Taylor Thompson has also played more than 110 minutes in goal already this year.

50 Years of Women's Varsity Sports
The 2022-2023 academic year marks the 50th anniversary of Title IX and the 50th year of women's varsity sports of the William Jewell campus. The five original teams included basketball, volleyball, swimming, tennis and field hockey while women's soccer joined the department in 1990. Jewell will be celebrating the growth and accomplishments of women's athletics throughout the year, headlined by an all-women's Hall of Fame class, to be inducted on September 23 which includes the 2010 women's soccer team.
