The William Jewell men's soccer team continues their season opening home stand on Friday as they host Drury followed by Southwest Baptist on Sunday afternoon.Â
Series History
Jewell defeated Drury 2-1 in double overtime in the first NCAA meeting in 2011 but have dropped the last 10. The Cardinals have seen better luck with Southwest Baptist, winning 6-of-8 meetings, including a 1-0 victory last fall.  Â

The Cardinals are looking to get in the win column after a tough 4-0 season opening loss to crosstown rival Rockhurst last Sunday. Jewell out shot the Hawks 11-9 but couldn't convert.  Â
Cardinal Notes
- Jose Arellano got the starting nod in goal for the Cardinals last week and posted five saves in his debut.Â
- Keaton Wiley continues to creep slowly toward the the NCAA era record for career minutes played. After 39 minutes in the opener, the fifth year senior sits just under 700 minutes shy of the mark, currently held by Quinton Conyers (2013-16).Â
- Eight different players scored last season with two others recording assists and all 10 return this fall. Mikhail McComie led the squad in 2021 with four goals and two assists while Cole Bulgren also added a pair of goals and assists. Sage Smotherman added two scores while Walker Bond, Carson Lee, Keketso Lipholo, Jack Mason and Keaton Wiley all had one goal.
