Corrine Hughes recorded a hat trick for just the fourth time in the NCAA era and the first by a Cardinal since 2013.
GOALS
- Newman jumped on the board early with a goal in the fourth minute by Jalyn McClean.
- The Cardinals responded just over six minutes later as Riley Frasure-Smith fed Hughes at 9:16 mark for the game tying goal.
- Hughes picked up the game winner in the 50th minute on an assist from Lux Sands before adding an additional score in the 86th minute.
KEY STATS
- The Cardinals outshot Newman 18-10 with nine attempts on goal.
- Hughes led with seven shots, five on goal and three goals. The last hat trick for the Cardinals came from Olivia Dykes on September 24, 2013 against Southwest Baptist.
- Frasure-Smith picked up four shots, two on goal and an assist, her second of the year.
- Taylor Thompson made three saves, playing all 90 minutes in goal.
