LIBERTY, Mo. - The William Jewell women's soccer team put up a second half rally but fell 2-1 on Sunday to Missouri S&T. The loss drops the Cardinals to 1-7-1 on the season and 0-4-1 in the GLVC. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Miners got on the board in the tenth minute off a deflection from a defender to Danielle Hopkins who scored from 25 yards out. 
• Sydney Gratz scored in the 34th minute to give Missouri S&T a 2-0 lead at the break. 
• In the 59th minute Corrine Hughes collected a rebound off a shot from Kate Lawrence and poked it in from two yards out to cut the deficit in half. 
• Jewell got off two close shots from long range but both sailed a little high to end the match at 2-1.

KEY STATS

• The Cardinals finished with 11 shots and five on goal. 
• Hughes and Lawrence finished with three shots a piece while Riley Frasure-Smith had two. 
• Katie Wagenheim posted six saves.
