Box Score LIBERTY, Mo. - The William Jewell men's soccer team drew a 0-0 tie Friday night against the visting no. 13 University of Illinois Springfield Prairie Stars. It is the second time this season William Jewell has tied a top-15 ranked team. The result gives Jewell their third tie of the year, sitting at 0-9-3 and 0-6-3 in the conference.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- UIS started out quick with shots, but Jewell was able to keep them all from entering the net in the first half.
- In the second half the wind became a factor gusting upwards of 35 mph, but Walker Bond was still able to get a shot off despite the gusts.
- Jewell was playing on their own half a majority of the time, but they kept UIS from scoring down the stretch to force the tie.
KEY STATS
- Both team only had two shots on goal, with Ethan Nichols and the aforementioned Bond getting one each.
- Freshman keeper Olav van Zanten had two saves.
