LIBERTY, Mo. - The William Jewell men's soccer team concluded their 2023 season in Kansas City against the Rockhurst University Hawks with a 2-1 loss.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• An early pair of Alexis Ibarra shots on goal started Jewell off hot, before a Hawks goal gave Rockhurst the 1-0 lead.
• A trio of shots by Ibarra, Brian Vidal, and Henry Staebell were not enough as Rockhurst went into halftime with the lead.
• Hawks went up two before an Ethan Nichols goal assisted by Sam Wambold and Jack Gintz put William Jewell on the board in the 65'. But, Jewell was unable to net another goal and would result in the loss. 

KEY STATS

•   Nichols finishes his senior season with his first goal of the season, sixth of his career.
•   Gintz logged a season high 39 minutes and his first career assist. 
• Jose Arellano had two saves.

Jewell finishes the season 0-12-4 overall and 0-9-4 in the GLVC. The Cardinals say goodbye to 10 seniors, Trey Berman, Ethan Jayaram, Ethan Nichols, Sam Wambold, Cole Bulgren, James Schneider, Chris Lee, Paul Choi, Jose Arellano, and MJ Fritz as they prepare for the 2024 campaign.
