LIBERTY, Mo - The William Jewell Men's and Women's Swimming teams combined for a 3-0 sweep Saturday, taking on Truman State University and College of Saint Mary (Neb.) at home. The men's team beat Truman 148-57 for their first victory of the season. While the women won a by a single point, 102-101, against Truman and 152-52 vs. the Flames to move to an undefeated 3-0 on the early season.
Martina Torrent won the 800 free with a time of 9:49.49 while placing second in the 400 free at 4:46.67.
Afonso Silva and
Alan Jovic each had a pair of first place finishes with Silva also collecting a second place finish in the 100 breast. Silva swam 8:55.07 in the 800 free, and 4:21.45 in the 400 free. Meanwhile Jovic timed a 2:13.46 and 1:07.66 in the 200 IM and 100 breast, respectively.
