KEARNEY, Neb. - The William Jewell men's tennis team took an early lead over Augustana University on Sunday afternoon but fell in the final three matches to drop a 4-3 decision and fall to 5-6 on the season.
The Cardinals won the doubles point early as
Ugnius Bickauskis and
Gage Foltz won a dominant 6-1 match at No. 1.
Julien Lafranchise and
Max Quennery won the tie breaker over Clayton Poppenga and Meg Siritaworachan at No. 2.
Bickauskis then took down Henry Dornbusch at No. 1 while Quennery also won at No. 2 to give the Cardinals an early 3-1 lead, before the Augies came storming back to take the final four matches.
