Oots Sets NCAA 54-Hole Record as Cardinals Take Fifth at Tunica Cup

JACKSON, Tenn. - The William Jewell men's golf team opened the spring portion of their schedule on Monday and Tuesday at the Tunica Cup, hosted by Union University. The Cardinals took fifth place as a team with a score of 916, the second best team score in a 54-hole tournament during the NCAA era. Missouri S&T took home the team title. 

THE LINEUP
  • Freshman Bryson Oots led the Cardinals with an individual score of 218 to set the new NCAA era record, bettering Collin Kasitz's mark from October 2018 by three strokes. He posted 70-76-72 scores to finish seventh overall and was second among the field with 13 birdies including on his last two holes to set the record. 
  • Fredrik Hersley and Scotty Jolly also placed among the top-20 at 13th and 19th, respectively. Hersley posted a 226 with 10 birdies while Jolly finised at 231 with a team high 29 pars. 
  • Stephen Radley placed 32nd with a 241, including seven birdies while Mitchell Arensberg rounded out the Jewell team at 253 to finish tied for 40th. 

UP NEXT
Jewell is off until March 13-14 when they travel to Owasso, Oklahoma for the Hillcat Classic, hosted by Rogers State University at the Bailey Ranch Golf Club.
