HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Both teams came out of the gates quickly as D'Aysa Collier-Williams and Mary Capron each opened with three point field goals, followed by another from Emree Zars to give Jewell a 9-7 lead. The Bulldogs were hot from the outside, hitting six three pointers in the opening quarter to lead 26-16 after 10 minutes.
  • Truman continued their hot start, scoring 33 points in the second period, with four more triples, to open up a 59-32 lead at the break.
  • The Cardinals slowly chipped away in the third quarter, outscoring Truman 28-20. Ayden Shannon and Bree Shannon combined to score the first 10 points of the half for Jewell before Kate Hillyer and Skyler Boylan took over. The pair combined for 16 points over the last five minutes of the third period to pull the Cardinals with 79-60.
  • Another three from Collier-Williams and a bucket from Zars cut the deficit to 16 with just over 6:30 to play but the Cardinals could get no closer.
