Welt led the Cardinals to a 2-1 series win over Northern State University on Sunday and Monday. The right hander tossed nine shutout innings, allowing just four hits and four walks with six strikeouts. She earned her first win of the year in a 1-0 complete game shutout victory in the rubber game.

Ashby was superb in his first Great Lakes Valley Conference outing as a Cardinal, tossing a seven inning complete game shutout of Missouri S&T. He allowed just two base runners on one hit and one walk while striking out eight. This was the 18th complete game shutout of the NCAA era by a Cardinal but the fewest amount of hits allowed. For his work, he was selected the GLVC Pitcher of the Week.

The William Jewell Athletes of the Week recognition is presented by David Starns Insurance Agencies. One men's and one women's student-athlete is selected for performance during the previous week, unless one gender does not compete then two of the same may be selected. Selection is made by the athletic department administration.
