LIBERTY, Mo. - The William Jewell softball team fell to Missouri S&T on Sunday in a doubleheader by final scores of 7-4 and 4-1. The Cardinals fall to 4-20 on the season and 0-8 in conference play. 

Game 1 (Missouri 7, Jewell 4)
HOW IT HAPPENED

• Missouri S&T took the early lead in the opener scoring two runs in the top of the second but the Cardinals came right back to take the lead on a three-run home run off the bat of Ella Hoffman. 
• In the fifth, the Miners took the lead with two runs but Hoffman again came through in the bottom of the sixth drawing a bases loaded walk to score Kelli McCallister and tie the game at four. 
• Missouri S&T scored two runs in the top of the seventh to go back in front. Jewell put a runner on the bottom half but two strikeouts ended the game. 

KEY STATS

• Hoffman drove in all four runs, going 1-for-2 with a walk.
• Sabrina Olmo led the Cardinals with two hits. 
• Sammie Welt (1-7) took the loss, allowing three earned runs in relief. 

Game 2 (Missouri S&T 4, Jewell 1)
HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Miners got one run in the top of the second in game two to take the lead. 
• The teams traded scoreless frames until the top of the fifth with Missouri S&T added three runs on three hits and one error. 
• In the sixth, Hoffman walked and advanced to second on an error. A single from Amanda Chung scored Hoffman to put the Cardinals on the board. 

KEY STATS

• Chung had two of Jewell's four hits while Sabrina Olmo had a triple and Sophia Lopez a double. 
• Sydney Parra (0-11) took the loss, allowing three earned in four innings.
