OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - The William Jewell men's soccer team opened the 2023 season on the road on Thursday night at Oklahoma Christian University, where they fell, 3-0. 
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Both teams were held scoreless for the first 33-plus minutes until Oklahoma Christian put back-to-back goals in over a two minute span.
• The Cardinals got an opportunity in the 42nd minute with a penalty kick but could not convert, trailing 2-0 at the break. 
• The Eagles added another score in the 51st minute to bring the score to the final of 3-0.  
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• The Cardinals were out shot 19-2 overall with 
Ethan Nichols and 
Cole Bulgren having the two shots for Jewell.
• 
Jose Arellano finished with six saves while freshman 
Olav van Zanten had three in his debut.

The Cardinals return to action on Tuesday with a trip to Harding University. Kick off is set for 2 p.m.
