LIBERTY, Mo – The William Jewell women's soccer team lost their Great Lakes Valley Conference opener, 3-1 versus Missouri-St. Louis to on Friday night. 
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Sophomore Lux Sands was quick off the punch, netting a Cardinals goal in the third minute assisted by Kate Lawrence and Anea Bemo. 
• The shooting didn't stop there as Aimee Nunez put a shot on goal, but the UMSL would tie it up before halftime.
• Jewell continued to hold on, but a go-ahead goal by the Tritons in the 72^nd minute secured the victory. 

 
KEY STATS:

• Sands scored the first Jewell goal of the season and second of her career. 
• Cardinals were out-kicked from the corner 11-1 during the contest.

Cardinals will host No. 13 McKendree on Sunday with kickoff scheduled for noon.
