Cardinals Post Five Goals In Rout Of Lincoln

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – The William Jewell women's soccer team ended their 2024 season on a high note with a 5-2 victory over Lincoln University (Mo.) Sunday afternoon. The win marks the fourth on the year for the Cardinals who conclude their 2024 season with a 4-11-2 regular season record and a 3-9-2 GLVC mark.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Freshman Dilyn Davies wasted no time, finding the net just two minutes into the game with a crisp assist from fellow freshman Maddy Follmer.
  • Jewell came out of halftime with a 1-0 lead, but that quickly changed as Davies less than three minutes into play would again score. This time being assisted by junior Riley Frasure-Smith,
  • Minutes later the Davies and Follmer connection struck again, this time in reversed roles as the latter scored her second goal of the year with the help of Davies.
  • Goals from Frasure-Smith and Lux Sands provided all the insurance the Cardinals needed as Jewell capped off their year with a 5-2 win.

KEY STATS
  • Emily Glassman stood in goal the entire game, allowing just two goals on 11 shots and collecting five saves.
  • After being shut out Friday in the shots department, Jewell had 23 on Sunday. It is the most since a regular season finale versus Southwest Baptist when they had 26 on April 16, 2021 (2020 season played in Spring due to COVID).
  • Five goals by the Cardinals is the most since having five on September 22, 2015 in a shutout at Rogers State.

Jewell concludes their 2024 season at 4-11-2 and will lose six seniors as they prepare for the 2025 campaign.
