LIBERTY, Mo. - A big fourth quarter helped the William Jewell women's basketball team to a 79-66 win over Missouri S&T on Senior Day in the Mabee Center. The Cardinals finish the season at 6-22 overall and 4-18 in conference play. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Both teams played nearly even in the opening 10 minutes as a free throw from Bree Shannon to earn the period, tied things up at a dozen. 
• Knotted at 20 nearly three minutes later, Ayden Shannon hit back-to-back triples to put the Cardinals on top by six. Caitlin Behling and Libby Arnold each hit threes of their own to maintain that advantage for nearly five minutes and take a 33-30 lead into the break. 
• The Miners outscored Jewell 25-23 in the third quarter but an Arnold free throw gave the Cardinals a one point lead as they went into the final frame. 
• In the fourth quarter, Jewell scored 23 points as Shannon led the charge with nine of those points while Behling and Kate Hillyer hit key three pointers to expand the lead to double digits down the stretch.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

• The senior Arnold finished with a season high 14 points while tying her career best with nine rebounds. 
• Shannon poured in 23 points while handing out five assists. 
• Hillyer added 19 points while Skyler Boylan grabbed eight rebounds including four on the offensive end. 
• Jewell shot 44% from the floor and were 15-of-18 from the free throw line.

UP NEXT 
Jewell will graduate just one player, Arnold, from the 2023-2024 team and will welcome back the bulk of the offensive production next winter.
