SPRINGFIELD, Ill. - The William Jewell volleyball team fell 3-0 on the road on Friday night at Illinois Springfield to drop to 1-14 on the season and 0-4 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• After UIS took an early lead, the Cardinals went on a 9-4 run to take a one point lead midway through the opener. The teams traded points until the Stars pulled in front by three but Jewell got a Wylie Singleton block and two UIS errors to knot things up at 23-all. The Prairie Stars won three of the final four points to take the set. 
• UIS broke out to an 18-7 lead in the second set before the Cardinals put together a small run but the Stars took the frame, 25-14. 
• Things went back-and-forth early in the finale but the home team separated themselves late with a 9-2 run to finish off a 25-15 win. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

• The Cardinals out-blocked UIS, 6-2 led by Singleton's three. 
• Emma Lea Benney finished with a team high nine kills while Reaghan Bible had 15 assists and 11 digs.
