QUINCY, Ill. - The William Jewell volleyball team was handed a 3-0 loss on Saturday at Quincy University to drop to 1-15 on the season and 0-5 in conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Jewell held their own against one of the league's top teams in the early going, holding a 16-14 lead after a kill from Macy Bartlett. The Hawks went on a 7-1 run to grab a 23-17 lead before the Cardinals scored four straight to close the gap but Quincy got back-to-back kills to take the opener, 25-21.
- The Hawks grabbed an early lead in set two but Jewell used a 7-2 run to knot things up at eight. Quincy went in front by six late before consecutive service aces from Ashlynn Rowland pulled the Cardinals within three before QU finished off the set, 25-18.
- Quincy used a mid-set run in set three to pull in front by seven and rolled to a 25-16 win.
