LIBERTY, Mo – The William Jewell women's soccer team escaped their bout with Southwest Baptist on Sunday with a 1-1 tie, the fourth of the year for the squad. William Jewell moves to 1-8-4 on the season with the draw and a 1-6-3 GLVC record.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Cardinals came out of the gate shooting quick with five shots, with two on goal, in the first 12 minutes.
- Riley Frasure-Smith gave Jewell the lead in the 23' when she found the back of the net for her second goal in as many games.
- Southwest Baptist rallied in the second half with a goal in the 71' to knot the game up at 1-1.
- The Jewell defense came up big, not allowing any of the eight shots in the final 19 minutes by the Bearcats to keep it a 1-1 draw.
KEY STATS
- Jenna Skeeters played the full 90 minutes, allowing one goal while collecting six saves.
- Sands and Frasure Smith each had four shots on the day, with the latter having a pair on goal.
- Jewell was out-shot by seven goals, but only three of those were on goal for the Bearcats.
