FAYETTE, Iowa - The William Jewell women's soccer team earned a 2–1 win over the Upper Iowa Peacocks on the road, their first win of the 2025 year, behind a two-goal showing by Lux Sands. The Cardinals are now 1–5–3 overall, with a 1–3–2 GLVC record.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- In the 38', Lux Sands opened the scoring for Jewell, assisted by Jules Bise and Brylee Rivera.
- Soon after halftime, Upper Iowa netted the equalizer to make it 1-1.
- In the 65', Sands converted a penalty kick to restore Jewell's lead and eventually secure the victory, 2-1 over the Peacocks.
KEY STATS
- Sands had all three of Jewell's shots on goal, with five total shots
- Hailey Davin got the start playing 90 minutes with 11 saves, a career high for the freshman
- Despite only three shots on goal, compared to 12 by Upper Iowa, Jewell got the win
