Ogle's Walk Off Double Gives Cardinals 5-4 Victory Over St. Cloud State

SIOUX CENTER, IOWA - The William Jewell softball team played deep into the night on Saturday and came away with a split with St. Cloud State University, falling 6-1 before winning 5-4 in game two. The Cardinals improve to 1-5 on the season. 

HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME ONE: St. Cloud 6, Jewell 1
  • St. Cloud jumped on top early with two runs before an error in the top of the fifth allowed Sydney Cure to score and cut the deficit in half. 
  • The Huskies added four more runs over the final two innings to bring the score to the final. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Cure finished with a team high two hits, including a double. 
  • Olivia Wood (0-3) took the loss in the circle, working five innings and allowing six earned runs. 
  • Sydney Parra also tossed a scoreless frame with a strikeout. 

GAME TWO: Jewell 5, St. Cloud 4
  • Jewell scored first in game two as a walk and an error put two on for Tori Woodard who doubled to center. 
  • St. Cloud tied the game with two runs in the top of the fourth and took the lead with a pair in the seventh inning. 
  • With the bases loaded and two outs, Emma Jane Ogle doubled to right field to clear the bases and give Jewell the 5-4 win. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Addie Bell had two hits to lead the team while Woodard picked up two RBI and Ogle, three. 
  • Avrey Reynolds (1-2) picked up her first win with a complete game effort, allowed four earned runs with three strikeouts. 

UP NEXT
Jewell wraps up the Mustang Invitational on Sunday afternoon with a double head with Winona State.
