Cardinals Break Two Records in Outdoor Opener

EMPORIA, Kan. - The William Jewell track and field teams opened the outdoor season this week at the Emporia State Relays where two school records went down. 
 

WOMEN

  • 100 Meters: Caroline Mayes moved up to second all-time with a 12.11 mark to lead three Cardinals in the event.
  • 100 Meter Hurdles: Mayes broke her own school record in the 100 hurdles with a time of 13.89, besting her previous mark of 13.98.
  • 400 Meters: Rylee Thompson posted a time of 1:05.44 in her debut event.
  • 400 Meter Hurdles: Morgan Mayo finished 21st overall at 1:16.46.
  • Discus: Bobbie Pollard placed among the top-25 with a 33.97 meter throw in the discus.
  • Hammer Throw: Jada Alfaro joined the all-time performers list at No. 7 with a throw of 45.50 meters. Pollard followed at 43.19 meters.
  • High Jump: Lillian Bogard placed eighth overall at 1.50 meters.
  • Javelin: Aubrey Harris placed 30th at 26.91 meters while Tatyana Turner was 33rd with a throw of 20.23 meters.
  • Pole Vault: Sophia McCune opened the season with a vault of 2.97 meters to place sixth.
  • 4x100 Relay: The team of Leila Moore, Cami Thomas, Morgan Mayo, and Mayes was 13th with a time of 50.33.


MEN

  • 100 Meters: Daniel Williams moved up to a tie for third on the all-time performances list with a mark of 10.85 to lead three Jewell runners.
  • 110 Meter Hurdles: Adam Hoffman crossed the line at 17.02.
  • 400 Meters: In his debut event, Bryce Mitchell picked up a No. 2 all-time mark of 47.99 to place fifth while Connor Hull was 12th at 48.98.
  • 400 Meter Hurdles: Konnor Poynter led the Cardinals with a time of 55.90 to finish 13th while Williams was 14th and moved up to seventh all-time (performers) at 56.46.
  • 800 Meters: Sincere Davis launched to second all-time with a time of 1:57.31 to place eighth.
  • 1500 Meters: Davis again shined, crossing at 4:12.60, to add his name to the top-10 performers list.
  • Discus: Keonne Gladden led three Cardinals in the event at 37.97 meters.
  • Hammer Throw: Gladden was 16th with a throw of 41.46 meters with Korbin Dow posting a mark of 39.05 meters.
  • Javelin: Hoffman tossed the javelin 41.82 meters to place among the top-25.
  • Long Jump: Terran Mitchell moved up to a tie for fifth among all-time performers with a leap of 6.67 meters.
  • Pole Vault: Lukas LePage placed ninth in the field at 4.48 meters.
  • Shot Put: Gladden was 20th overall at 12.38 meters.
  • 4x400 Relay: The team of Poynter, Mitchell, Hull, and Kain Sourbeer set a new school record at 3:18.26, breaking the previous mark set in 2023.

The Cardinals will return to action next weekend at Lincoln University of Missouri in Jefferson City.
