Cardinals Wrap Up 2025 with Split

LIBERTY, Mo. - The William Jewell softball team closed out the 2025 campaign on Sunday afternoon with a split against Lincoln University of Missouri. The Cardinals dropped a close 3-2 decision in game one before finishing with a 6-0 shutout in game two. Jewell completes the season at 24-26 overall and 11-17 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, both improvements from 2024. 

GAME ONE: Lincoln 3, Jewell 2
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Cardinals took the early lead to start the day as an error allowed Mikayla Chairez to cross the plate in the first inning. Chairez scored again in the third, this time on an RBI single through the left side by Amanda Chung
  • Lincoln got back-to-back hits to open the fourth frame before a first pitch three-run home run gave the Blue Tigers the lead for good. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Chung finished with two of Jewell's five hits and drove in the only RBI. 
  • Sydney Parra (11-8) took the loss with a complete game effort, allowing three earned runs. 

GAME TWO: Jewell 6, Lincoln 0
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Jewell again took the first lead in the nightcap with Chung scoring on an RBI base knock from Alexa Almejo to right field. The Cardinals added another as the Blue Tigers caught Sydney Cure stealing but allowed Addie Bell to cross home plate. 
  • In the third, Chung blasted her third home run of the year to extend the lead before Jewell piled on in the sixth with RBI from Chairez and Emma Jane Ogle

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Chairez picked up a game high three hits while Chung and Bell each had two while scoring twice. 
  • Avrey Reynolds (8-11) finished the year strong with a four hit complete game shutout.
