LIBERTY, Mo. – Kanosh Abdulameer converted a penalty kick to give the William Jewell men's soccer team the lead, and the Cardinals battled to a 1-1 draw with Illinois Springfield on Friday night. Jewell is now 2-7-2 overall and 1-5-2 in GLVC play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Cardinals created chances throughout the first half, with Daniel Pirillo and Alan Sari each forcing saves and Nolan Piedimonte hitting the crossbar in the 42', but the match was scoreless at the break.
- Jewell broke through in the 54', when Abdulameer buried a penalty kick for a 1-0 lead.
- UIS answered in the 57' with a goal. Jewell kept pushing for a winner, as Pirillo hit the post in the 61' and Owen Pereira did the same in the 76', but neither side could find a second goal.
