LIBERTY, Mo. – Jessica Baker found the back of the net to tie the match early in the second half, but Illinois Springfield answered less than two minutes later to take a 2-1 win over the William Jewell women's soccer team Friday evening. Jewell is now 0-9-2 overall and 0-6-2 in GLVC play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- UIS opened the scoring in the 14', for a 1-0 lead that held through halftime.
- The Cardinals pulled even in the 52', when Baker scored off a Taylin Lewis assist to make it 1-1.
- The Prairie Stars answered right away, scoring in the 54' to regain the lead, but the Cardinals couldn't find a second equalizer and fell 2-1
KEY STATS
- Jenna Skeeters played all 90 minutes in goal and made 12 saves, including seven in the second half, matching her 12-save performance against Truman State.
- Baker's goal was her second of the season, and Lewis recorded the assist.
- Jewell was out-shot 28-to-3, with UIS holding a 14-2 edge in shots on goal and a 10-1 advantage in corners.
