ST. LOUIS – William Jewell was swept by Maryville University on Sunday, 16-10, in the series finale versus the Saints. Jewell is 6-21, 2-10 after the weekend.
 
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

• Maddox Meier homered to center for a 2-0 lead in the first. Two runs in the bottom half of the inning tied things up between the two teams.
• Jewell took the lead in the third courtesy of a Hayden Post RBI single, followed up by Meier stealing home as Austin Dalhberg stole second base in the third inning.
• Maryville plated six runs in the third, and then another seven runs between the fifth and sixth innigs. For a 15-9 lead.
• Jewell attempted a comeback in the seventh with three runs but would ultimately fall short, 16-10.

 

KEY STATS

• Alex Smith went 2.2 innings receiving the loss.
• Maddox Meier was 4-for-5 with four RBIs, one stolen bag, and two homers in the loss.
