Second Half Goals Not Enough As Women's Soccer Begins 2026

KEARNEY, Neb. – Kennedy Holloway and Jessica Baker each found the back of the net in the 2026 William Jewell Women's Soccer season opener but fell after four unanswered goals in the final 23 minutes by Fort Hays State to hand the Cardinals a 5-2 season-opening loss Friday morning at Foster Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Holloway opened the scoring just over nine minutes in, finishing off a feed from Brylee Rivera for the Cardinals' first goal of the season.
  • Fort Hays answered less than seven minutes later to give teams a 1-1 tie going into the intermisson.
  • Jessica Baker put Jewell back on top in the 58' minute, converting a Maddy Follmer assist to make it 2-1.
  • Four goals by the Tigers gave Fort Hays the lead, taking the season opener 5-2.
